WISC-IV

The Fourth Edition of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-IV), to be published in Australia in November 2003, incorporates a number of significant changes in structure, scoring and interpretation. On the basis of contemporary research in neuropsychology and cognitive information processing, the WISC-IV has been designed to provide reliable and valid measures of aspects of cognitive functioning related to learning disabilities, language difficulties, and disorders of attention and executive functioning.

In this seminar, the major developments will be reviewed, with discussion of the new theoretical structure of the WISC-IV, examination of the five new subtests, and consideration of its clinical use and interpretation, including the advantages of integrating WISC-IV scores with data from other new tests of language abilities and academic achievement
